Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RoleShepherd ("RoleShepherd" or the "Service"), operated by TexoByte, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

RoleShepherd is an always-on career intelligence platform. It helps you build an evidence-based career profile, monitor companies you choose, qualify job postings, track applications, and stay market-aware between job searches. Features vary by subscription plan.

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
• One person per account. Do not share accounts or create accounts on behalf of others without authorization.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Current plans include Have a Job ($5/month or annual), Job Search Lite ($19.99/month or quarterly sprint), and Job Search Heavy ($39.99/month or quarterly sprint). Lite and Heavy include a 14-day free trial for new subscribers where offered. One-time top-up packs may be available on active subscriptions.

Plan features and monthly quotas (jobs processed, research runs, resume drafts, interviews, dream company limits, crawl cadence) are described on our pricing page and may be updated with reasonable notice. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled.

You may cancel through the Stripe Customer Portal when available in your account settings, or by contacting support@roleshepherd.com. Cancellation stops future charges; access continues through the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.

Refunds are handled at our discretion except where required by law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful purposes or in violation of these Terms.
• Attempt to access other users' data or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without authorization.
• Scrape, reverse engineer, or overload the Service except as permitted by law.
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent profile or application information.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written consent.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit (resume, profile answers, notes, etc.). You grant us a license to use, store, process, and display your content solely to operate and improve the Service, including sending portions to third-party processors (such as OpenAI) as described in our Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the right to submit your content and that it does not infringe others' rights.

6. AI-assisted features and career information

The Service uses artificial intelligence to score jobs, generate research summaries, draft resumes, conduct interviews, and produce other career-related content. This output is informational only — not legal, financial, tax, or professional advice.

• Scores, salary bands, and research may be incomplete or based on limited data. When sample sizes are small, the Service indicates that honestly.
• You are responsible for verifying information before relying on it in applications, negotiations, or interviews.
• RoleShepherd does not apply to jobs on your behalf. You submit applications manually.
• Resume and profile features are designed to reflect evidence you provide. Do not misrepresent your experience. Features respect do-not-claim boundaries you set.
• We do not guarantee interviews, offers, salary outcomes, or hiring results.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including software, design, and branding, is owned by TexoByte, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding except as needed to use the Service.

8. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties including Stripe, OpenAI, Resend, and Serper. Your use of those services may be subject to their separate terms and policies.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY ACCURATE.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TexoByte, LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TexoByte, LLC from claims arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may permanently delete your account and data from Settings → Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service with reasonable notice where practicable.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts located in Delaware for disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, except where prohibited by law.

This governing law provision should be reviewed by your legal counsel before launch.

14. Changes

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
